ABOUT HUNTINGTON'S DISEASE
Huntington’s Disease (HD) is a rare, inherited disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It affects a person’s movement, thinking, and emotions, eventually leading to a loss of independence. Symptoms usually appear between the ages of 30 and 50 and worsen over time. There is currently no cure, but research efforts like those supported through Glycoscience Research and Shephard’s Gift for GM1 bring hope for future treatments.
MEDICAL SCIENCE RESEARCH
Through involvement with Glycoscience Research and Shephard’s Gift for GM1, Harvest Hope Farm is a participating farm, raising lambs that potentially hold the cure for Huntington's Disease. These "special" lambs will be bred, raised, and returned to Glycoscience Research for continued study with HD-affected mice. We are honored to support this life-changing research and help move closer to a cure.
